The shape of the land…  The Wicklow Mountains form the largest mountainous area in Ireland and offer great natural diversity. The landscape of the coastal plain contrasts sharply with that of the windswept mountain peaks, dramatic glens and scenic glacial valleys, which yield to more gentle hills in the south of the county. Two of the highest passes in Ireland run through the Wicklow mountains - the Sally Gap and the Wicklow Gap - both provide routes to the east and west of the county.

The estate is within easy reach of all major walking areas of the county, some walks even start right at the doorstep…  Routes in Wicklow are generally uncrowded, so that it is a pleasure to meet and chat to other walkers.  The local people are friendly, hospitable and helpful.  Walk into any pub or ask for directions along the way and you will likely find yourself deep in conversation - a welcome that is still fresh and unaffected.
